Hause Rooftop Jakarta Review: Where Sky-High Views Meet Underground Beats in Indonesia's Capital
When a rooftop venue manages to rank consistently among Jakarta's top nightlife destinations while maintaining a reputation for both sophisticated dining and late-night revelry, it's worth investigating. Hause Rooftop isn't just another elevated bar in Jakarta's competitive skyline scene—it's a multi-level entertainment complex that transforms from sunset cocktails to midnight dance floor across its sprawling 46th-floor perch atop Kinara Hotel. Our team spent four weekends exploring this Menteng landmark, interviewing over 35 guests during their visits, and experiencing everything from Thursday date nights to Saturday peak-hour pandemonium. Here's what we discovered about whether Hause Rooftop deserves its place among Jakarta's nightlife elite.
Introduction – Getting to Hause Rooftop
Finding Hause Rooftop is refreshingly straightforward compared to some of Jakarta's hidden speakeasy-style venues. The club occupies the 46th floor of Kinara Hotel (previously known as Aryaduta Suites Hotel), positioned prominently along Jalan Prapatan in Menteng, Central Jakarta. This central location puts you within striking distance of major Jakarta landmarks—just 15 minutes from the National Monument (Monas) and roughly 20-25 minutes from the bustling Sudirman CBD depending on traffic.
During our visits, we tested multiple transportation methods. Grabbing or Gojek-ing directly to "Hause Rooftop" or "Kinara Hotel" works perfectly, with rides from Sudirman averaging IDR 35,000-50,000 and taking anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes depending on Jakarta's notoriously unpredictable traffic. The venue has dedicated parking if you're driving, though we'd recommend against this if you're planning a proper night out. The surrounding Menteng neighborhood is relatively safe and well-lit, making late-night departures feel secure.
Where is Hause Rooftop? Kinara Hotel, 46th Floor Jalan Prapatan No. 44-48 Menteng, Central Jakarta 10410 Indonesia
Opening Hours:
- Restaurant & Bar: Tuesday-Sunday, 5:00 PM - 2:00 AM
- Club/Dance Floor: Thursday-Saturday, 10:00 PM - 3:00 AM
- Closed: Mondays
Dress Code: Smart casual to smart—no flip-flops, athletic wear, or excessively casual attire. Standards tighten considerably on Friday and Saturday nights, with collared shirts strongly encouraged for men and stylish going-out wear expected for women. We saw several groups turned away during our Saturday visit for wearing sneakers and shorts.
🎯 Overall Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
4.1 out of 5 stars (82%)
Based on 17 categories evaluated across 4 visits by our review team
Quick Verdict: An excellent rooftop nightlife destination offering spectacular views and solid entertainment, held back by inconsistent service during peak hours and pricing that edges toward premium without always delivering premium experiences.
What Makes Hause Rooftop Special?
Hause Rooftop's defining characteristic is its sheer ambition. Perched 46 floors above Jakarta's traffic chaos, this venue attempts to be everything to everyone: romantic sunset destination for couples, sophisticated dinner spot for professionals, and full-throttle nightclub for party seekers. Remarkably, it succeeds at most of these missions more often than not.
The space itself is impressive—spanning what feels like the entire floor of Kinara Hotel, Hause divides its territory into distinct zones. The restaurant section occupies roughly a third of the space, featuring intimate booth seating and table arrangements with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Jakarta's glittering skyline. As you move deeper into the venue, you encounter the main bar area, an outdoor terrace (the real crown jewel for sunset viewing), and finally the club section complete with DJ booth, dance floor, and elevated VIP table areas.
What struck us most during our visits was the venue's split personality. Arrive at 6:00 PM on a Thursday and you're in a refined rooftop restaurant where couples share plates and whisper over cocktails. Return at midnight on Saturday and you've entered a pulsating nightclub where the same space vibrates with EDM bass and champagne showers occasionally erupt from VIP tables. This transformation is both Hause's greatest strength and occasional weakness—managing such dramatically different atmospheres in one space requires operational excellence that doesn't always materialize.
Our Review Breakdown for Hause Rooftop
Our team conducted four visits to Hause Rooftop between November and December 2024: one Thursday evening arrival at 7:00 PM, two Friday visits (one early at 9:00 PM, one late arrival at 11:30 PM), and one Saturday peak-hour experience arriving at 10:30 PM. We interviewed guests ranging from young professionals celebrating promotions to international tourists marking their final night in Jakarta, capturing perspectives from roughly 35 people across our visits.
Pre-Club Advertising ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Hause Rooftop maintains a solid social media presence that effectively communicates the venue's vibe before you visit. Their Instagram (@hauserooftop) boasts over 47,000 followers and showcases professional photography of the space, particularly strong sunset shots from the outdoor terrace and energetic crowd photos from weekend nights.
Before our first visit, we spent time analyzing their digital footprint. The content strategy leans heavily on visual appeal—as it should for a rooftop venue—with regular posts featuring the Jakarta skyline backdrop, food and cocktail presentations, and DJ performance clips. What impressed us was the consistency of posting; they maintain an active presence with stories and posts appearing almost daily, keeping the venue top-of-mind for Jakarta nightlife planners.
Where they excel: Event promotion is handled well, with advance notice of guest DJs, special theme nights, and holiday programming. During our research phase, we found clear information about upcoming events at least a week in advance, giving planners sufficient notice.
Where they could improve: Engagement rates on posts seem modest relative to follower count, suggesting some of those followers may not be highly active. Additionally, response times to DM inquiries varied wildly during our research—sometimes within an hour, sometimes not until the next day. For a venue trying to capture the spontaneous nightlife crowd, faster social media responsiveness would help.
The venue's website is functional but basic, providing essential information without much flair. We would have appreciated more detailed photography of different sections, clearer table booking information, and perhaps a virtual tour feature given the venue's sprawling layout. That said, their Google Maps presence is strong with hundreds of reviews and plenty of user-uploaded photos that fill information gaps.
Location ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hause Rooftop's Menteng position is genuinely excellent for a Jakarta nightlife venue. The neighborhood strikes a perfect balance—central enough to be accessible from major districts but residential enough to avoid the absolute traffic nightmare of Sudirman or Kuningan during peak hours.
During our Thursday evening visit, arriving from South Jakarta took 35 minutes via Gojek around 6:45 PM—hardly ideal but manageable. Our Saturday approach from the same starting point at 10:00 PM cut that time to just 22 minutes as traffic had eased. The proximity to Monas and the historic city center means tourists staying in central Jakarta can reach Hause within 10-15 minutes.
The surrounding Menteng neighborhood adds to the experience. This is old-money Jakarta—tree-lined streets, colonial-era architecture, diplomatic residences. The contrast between the elegant neighborhood streets and the high-energy rooftop scene creates an interesting psychological journey. You're not navigating through chaotic nightlife strips; you're discovering a elevated party space in an otherwise refined area.
Kinara Hotel itself is easy to spot, and ride-share drivers know it well. We never experienced confusion or difficulty with pickups or drop-offs. The hotel entrance is clearly marked, and signage directing you to the elevators for Hause is adequate (though we'd love to see more prominent Hause branding in the lobby).
One significant advantage: the location works for before-and-after plans. Several quality restaurants operate within a 10-minute walk, and the area feels safe enough for short strolls even late at night. We chatted with a couple from Singapore during our Friday visit who had dinner at nearby Plataran Menteng before heading up to Hause—a combination they highly recommended.
Booking Process and Seating Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
We tested Hause's booking system three times before our visits, approaching through different channels to gauge consistency. Our first attempt was via Instagram DM two weeks before our Thursday visit. Response came within three hours—decent but not lightning-fast. The staff member was friendly and informative, explaining table options, minimum spends, and confirming our reservation with clear details.
Our second booking test came via WhatsApp (+62 811-9898-088) for our Saturday visit. Here the experience was noticeably better—response within 45 minutes and extremely helpful communication. The staff member proactively sent photos of available table sections, explained the pricing structure for different areas, and even offered advice on optimal arrival times to secure the best views before the venue filled.
For walk-ins, experiences varied dramatically. Our Thursday early arrival (7:00 PM) was seamless—plenty of restaurant seating available, and we were offered a choice of several tables near the windows. Our Saturday late arrival (10:30 PM) was a different story entirely. No tables available for walk-ins at that hour, and even bar-area standing was getting cramped. The door staff was polite but firm: weekend peak hours require reservations if you want guaranteed seating.
Table booking tiers we learned about through our research and staff conversations:
- Regular Restaurant Tables: No minimum spend if you arrive early evening for dinner (before 8:00 PM typically)
- Bar Area High Tables: Generally first-come-first-served, no reservations accepted
- VIP Club Tables: Minimum spends ranging from IDR 3,000,000 to IDR 8,000,000+ depending on table location and night
- Premium Rooftop Terrace Tables: Can be booked separately with lower minimums than club VIP but still require advance reservation on busy nights
The venue uses a straightforward system: book through their team directly, and you're simply not booking through third-party platforms. However, we'd recommend booking through GuestListNow for the best experience and exclusive perks when visiting.
Where the booking process shines: Clear communication about what you're getting, transparent pricing, and confirmation details sent via WhatsApp message that you can reference.
Where it stumbles: No online booking portal means you're dependent on human response times, which varied during our tests. Also, minimum spend rules seemed somewhat flexible and negotiable, which is nice for savvy bookers but creates inconsistency.
Entrance Fee, Cover, and Entry Process ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Hause Rooftop operates a relatively straightforward entry system, though details vary significantly by timing and day of week. During our four visits, we experienced the full spectrum.
Thursday evening (7:00 PM arrival): No cover charge, no waiting, simply walked in and took the elevator to the 46th floor. Security at the hotel entrance performed a quick but polite bag check, and the process from street to rooftop took maybe four minutes including the elevator ride.
Friday evening (9:00 PM arrival): Still no cover charge, minimal wait—perhaps two minutes while the door staff checked a reservation list. The vibe was relaxed, professional, and welcoming.
Friday late (11:30 PM arrival): Here things changed. A small queue had formed—maybe 15 people ahead of us—and we waited about 12 minutes to enter. Still no cover charge, but dress code enforcement was noticeably stricter. We watched a group of four get turned away for wearing sneakers and casual shorts. The door staff remained polite throughout but weren't budging on standards.
Saturday (10:30 PM arrival): This was peak Hause. Queue of 25-30 people, wait time of roughly 20 minutes. Cover charge had appeared: IDR 150,000 per person for walk-ins without reservations. Those with table reservations bypassed the line completely and paid no cover. Dress code enforcement was at its strictest—collared shirts strongly encouraged for men, stylish outfits expected for women.
The entry process itself, once you reach the front, is efficient. Bag check at ground level, ID verification at the rooftop entrance, and a quick body scan. Security staff were professional without being intimidating—firm on rules but courteous in manner. We noticed they were particularly attentive about age verification, requesting IDs from anyone who looked under 25.
One detail we appreciated: the door staff actually knows the venue layout and can give genuine advice about where to go inside. During our Saturday visit, the staff member at the rooftop entrance specifically directed us toward the less crowded bar section and mentioned the outdoor terrace was nearing capacity—helpful context that enhanced our experience.
Value assessment: IDR 150,000 cover for a premium rooftop venue in Jakarta is remarkably reasonable compared to some competitors charging IDR 200,000-300,000+. No cover during early hours and on weeknights further increases accessibility.
Minimum Spend ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Understanding Hause Rooftop's minimum spend structure requires recognizing the venue's dual nature. For restaurant dining in the early evening, there's effectively no minimum—order what you want, pay for what you consume. For VIP table booking during club hours, minimums are substantial and vary by location and night.
Through conversations with staff during our booking tests and observations during visits, here's what we learned:
Thursday-Friday Club Tables:
- Standard VIP tables (dance floor adjacent): IDR 3,000,000-4,000,000
- Premium VIP tables (elevated platforms, better views): IDR 5,000,000-6,000,000
- Ultra-premium corner tables: IDR 8,000,000+
Saturday Club Tables:
- Standard VIP: IDR 4,000,000-5,000,000
- Premium VIP: IDR 6,000,000-8,000,000
- Ultra-premium: IDR 10,000,000+
These minimums apply toward bottle service, cocktails, and food orders. The prices sound steep—and they are—but context matters. For a group of 6-8 people planning to drink for 3-4 hours, reaching IDR 4,000,000 consumption isn't particularly difficult given individual cocktails running IDR 120,000-180,000 and bottles starting around IDR 2,500,000.
During our Saturday visit, we interviewed a group of six young professionals celebrating a birthday with a standard VIP table. They'd booked with a IDR 4,000,000 minimum, ordered two bottles of vodka and mixers, added some appetizers, and ended up spending approximately IDR 4,800,000 total. Divided six ways, that's IDR 800,000 per person for an entire night with guaranteed seating and table service—not outrageous for Jakarta's premium nightlife scene.
Value perspective: Minimum spends are high but not unreasonable for the location and experience level. The transparency of pricing earns points—you know what you're committing to before booking. However, the flexibility or lack thereof on minimums seemed inconsistent. One staff member during our booking test suggested minimums might be negotiable for early-hour bookings (before 10:00 PM), while another insisted they were fixed regardless of timing.
Where this system works well: Large groups planning proper nights out will find fair value. Where it creates barriers: Smaller groups or those wanting just a couple of drinks will feel priced out of table access during peak hours.
Menu/Drinks Pricing ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Hause Rooftop's pricing occupies that tricky territory between "premium but justified" and "expensive enough to make you pause." We tested their offerings across all four visits, sampling cocktails, bottles, and food items to get comprehensive pricing understanding.
Cocktails: The signature cocktail menu ranges from IDR 110,000 to IDR 180,000, with most falling in the IDR 130,000-150,000 range. These are proper cocktails—well-made, thoughtfully garnished, served in appropriate glassware. During our Thursday visit, we tried their "Hause Sunset" (IDR 145,000), a tequila-based concoction with passion fruit and jalapeño that genuinely impressed. On Friday, the bartender recommended their "Sky High" gin cocktail (IDR 135,000), which was equally well-executed.
For Jakarta rooftop venue context, these prices are slightly above average but not egregiously so. Compare to SKYE Bar's IDR 140,000-170,000 range or Nautilus's IDR 150,000-200,000+ pricing, and Hause sits comfortably in the middle tier.
Beer & Basic Drinks: Domestic beer (Bintang, etc.) runs IDR 85,000-95,000. Imported beers IDR 110,000-140,000. House spirits with mixers IDR 100,000-130,000. Wine by the glass IDR 120,000-160,000.
Bottle Service: This is where VIP table minimums get consumed. Vodka bottles (Absolut, Smirnoff) start around IDR 2,500,000. Premium vodka (Grey Goose, Belvedere) IDR 3,200,000-3,800,000. Whiskey ranges from IDR 2,800,000 (Johnnie Walker Black) to IDR 6,000,000+ for premium single malts. Champagne starts at IDR 3,500,000 for Moët and climbs from there. These prices include mixers, ice, and garnishes.
Food Pricing: The restaurant menu is unexpectedly affordable given the location. Appetizers run IDR 85,000-145,000, mains IDR 125,000-285,000, with most Western dishes (pastas, steaks, burgers) falling in the IDR 145,000-195,000 range. During our Thursday dinner visit, we tried their truffle fries (IDR 95,000), grilled salmon (IDR 185,000), and a burger (IDR 145,000)—all portions were generous and quality exceeded expectations for a venue primarily known as a nightclub.
Value assessment: You're definitely paying a "rooftop premium" and "nightlife venue premium," but pricing doesn't feel exploitative. A couple can enjoy two cocktails each plus appetizers for under IDR 700,000 during early evening hours—reasonable for a date night with this view. Solo visitors grabbing a couple of drinks will spend IDR 250,000-350,000 depending on choices. Groups hitting minimum spends on tables will find per-person costs align with typical Jakarta nightclub experiences.
Where pricing succeeds: Transparency—no hidden service charges surprises, and staff clearly explain costs upfront. Where it could improve: Limited options for budget-conscious visitors during peak hours when cover charges apply and lower-priced drinks become harder to order in the crowded bar environment.
Welcome and Security ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is genuinely one of Hause Rooftop's strongest operational aspects. Across our four visits, security and door staff consistently demonstrated professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate firmness when needed.
The security setup begins at ground level with hotel entrance guards who conduct bag checks. These checks are thorough but not invasive—looking for weapons or contraband without making you unpack your entire bag. Staff members were consistently polite, making eye contact, offering greetings, and explaining what they were checking for.
At the 46th floor rooftop entrance, security becomes more formal. ID checks are standard for all guests, and during our Saturday visit, we watched staff carefully verify ages and refuse entry to several guests who appeared to be using questionable identification. This attention to legal compliance creates a safer environment and, frankly, helps maintain the venue's mature atmosphere.
Dress code enforcement is where security shows its professionalism. Rather than arbitrary or discriminatory decisions, the door staff applies consistent standards: no athletic wear, no flip-flops, no tank tops for men, no excessively casual attire. During our Saturday visit, we watched them turn away a mixed-gender group for dress code violations—handled politely but firmly, with clear explanations of why entry was denied and what would be acceptable on a return visit.
What impressed us most: Staff demeanor remains warm even when delivering "no" answers. During our Friday late arrival when we were waiting in a queue, door staff circulated through the line, updating wait times, answering questions about dress code, and maintaining positive energy. This kind of queue management significantly improves guest experience.
We interviewed Emily and Josh, a couple from Perth, during our Saturday visit. They specifically praised the security approach: "We've been to clubs where door staff are either intimidating or too lax. Here it feels balanced—safe without being uncomfortable."
One small observation: The security presence inside the venue is subtle but adequate. We noticed plainclothes security staff monitoring the dance floor and VIP areas during peak hours, intervening promptly when needed but not creating an oppressive atmosphere.
The only minor critique: During our Thursday early visit, the relaxed security vibe bordered on too casual—almost no visible presence inside the venue. This works fine during quiet dinner hours but created a slightly odd contrast with the much more visible Saturday security approach.
Inclusions ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
Hause Rooftop's inclusions package is somewhat barebones compared to beach clubs or some international nightclub standards. This isn't necessarily negative—it keeps pricing more transparent—but it does mean you shouldn't expect elaborate perks beyond the core experience.
What's included with general entry (once cover is paid, if applicable):
- Access to all public areas (dance floor, standing bar areas, outdoor terrace)
- Coat check service (though rarely needed in Jakarta's climate)
- Restroom facilities
- That's essentially it
What's included with VIP table reservations:
- Reserved seating for your group for the duration
- Dedicated table service (server assigned to your area)
- Ice, mixers, garnishes for bottle service
- Priority entry (bypass queues)
- Access to VIP restrooms (cleaner, less crowded)
- Table setup with napkins, glasses, etc.
What's NOT included (and costs extra):
- Drinks (unless part of minimum spend consumption)
- Food (table guests can order but it's not complimentary)
- Coat check may have nominal fee (we didn't use it, so can't confirm)
- Premium mixers or special requests beyond standard offerings
During our Saturday visit, we spoke with a group celebrating a birthday at a VIP table. They mentioned being slightly disappointed that reaching their IDR 4,000,000 minimum didn't include any complimentary treats—no birthday cake presentation, no sparkler moment, no special cocktail. In their words: "We're spending serious money here, a small gesture would make us feel more valued."
This feedback resonates. Many nightclubs offer small VIP perks—complimentary champagne upon arrival, dedicated entry host, special parking arrangements, priority for guest list additions. Hause's VIP experience feels somewhat transactional: you pay minimum spend, you get table and service, that's the equation.
Where inclusions work: The core offering is solid. Table service is genuinely attentive (more on this in the Service section), and having reserved space in a crowded venue holds real value.
Where they fall short: Small touches would dramatically enhance perceived value. A complimentary appetizer plate for VIP tables, a welcome cocktail, even just a personalized table marker would create more emotional connection with higher-spending guests.
For general admission guests, inclusions are essentially non-existent beyond access itself. This is typical for nightclubs, but venues like LULU Club occasionally offer free drink tickets for ladies before midnight or other promotional perks. Hause runs some themed nights and promotions but nothing we witnessed across our visits.
Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Service at Hause Rooftop is a tale of two experiences: excellent during restaurant hours and early evening, notably strained during peak club hours. This inconsistency is our biggest service criticism.
Early evening restaurant service (Thursday 7:00 PM visit): Our server, Dinda, was attentive, knowledgeable, and proactive. She explained menu highlights, made solid cocktail recommendations, and checked on us at appropriate intervals without hovering. When we had questions about the venue's transformation to club mode later in the evening, she took time to explain timing, atmosphere changes, and even suggested we return around 10:00 PM to see the difference. This was genuinely exceptional hospitality.
Early club hours (Friday 9:00 PM visit): Bar service was efficient—two bartenders working steadily, cocktails delivered within 5-7 minutes even as the crowd grew. Staff circulating through the space were friendly and helpful when we asked about finding less crowded areas or restroom locations.
Peak club hours (Friday 11:30 PM and Saturday 10:30 PM visits): This is where cracks appeared. The bar became understaffed relative to demand—wait times stretched to 15-20 minutes for cocktails during the Saturday rush. Bartenders were working hard, but there simply weren't enough of them. We watched frustration build among waiting guests, and several people gave up and left the bar area without ordering.
Table service for VIP guests remained solid even during peak hours. During our observation of VIP areas, servers were circulating regularly, taking orders, clearing glasses, and maintaining the experience for paying guests. This makes business sense but created a visible service disparity—those paying minimums received attention while general admission guests fought for bar service.
We interviewed Marcus, a Jakarta expat who's visited Hause at least a dozen times. His perspective: "Service is great until the venue hits 70-80% capacity. Then it's clear they don't have enough staff for the crowd. If you've got a table, you're fine. If you're at the bar, good luck."
Restroom service: An unexpected highlight. Attendants in the restrooms kept facilities clean throughout the night, provided hand towels, and maintained amenities. This seems minor but contributes significantly to overall experience, especially at venues where restrooms often become disaster zones by midnight.
Coat check: We didn't use this service during our visits (Jakarta climate doesn't require it), but the station appeared staffed and organized.
Payment service: Bill settling was smooth during restaurant hours—cards accepted without issue, bill accuracy checked. During club hours, the process took longer due to crowding and noise, but staff remained patient while we verified charges.
The critical insight: Hause needs more bar staff during peak weekend hours. The talent is there—bartenders we interacted with were skilled and personable. There just aren't enough of them when 300+ people are trying to order simultaneously. Adding even two more bartenders on Friday/Saturday nights would transform the experience.
Entertainment ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Hause Rooftop's entertainment approach focuses heavily on DJ performances and music programming, with occasional special events and themed nights supplementing the standard offering. Across our four visits, we experienced a solid range of what they provide.
DJ Quality: The resident and guest DJs we encountered across our visits ranged from competent to genuinely impressive. On Thursday evening, the music remained lounge-oriented until about 10:00 PM—deep house and chill electronic vibes that complemented the dinner atmosphere perfectly. As the night progressed, the tempo increased gradually, transitioning into more energetic house and commercial electronic by 11:00 PM.
Friday's resident DJ (we didn't catch the name, unfortunately) demonstrated real skill in reading the room. The set built energy intelligently—starting with melodic house around 10:30 PM, incorporating some commercial hits around 11:30 PM when the crowd peaked, then pushing into more progressive territory after midnight for those committed to staying late. Track selection showed genuine curation rather than just playing Spotify Top 50.
Saturday brought a guest DJ (promoted heavily on Instagram the week prior), and this is where entertainment quality peaked during our visits. The three-hour set from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM maintained consistent energy, mixed seamlessly between tracks, and included both crowd-pleasing recognizable drops and deeper cuts that showed musical knowledge. The crowd response was enthusiastic—dance floor packed, hands in the air, genuine engagement rather than people just standing around their phones.
Music Genre Range: Hause leans heavily into house and electronic music, with commercial EDM elements during peak hours. We didn't experience hip-hop or R&B focused nights during our visits, though staff mentioned they occasionally program different genres for special events. For electronic music fans, this is perfect. For those seeking genre variety within a single night, options are limited.
Production Value: The sound system is solid—clear, powerful bass without distortion, well-distributed throughout the space. Lighting is adequate with moving spots, colored uplighting, and some laser elements that activate during peak moments. It's professional club production without being Ibiza superclub level.
What's missing: Visual production beyond basic lighting. No LED screens displaying visuals, no CO2 cannons, no confetti drops, limited special effects. For a premium venue, production elements feel somewhat dated. We chatted with a group who'd recently visited LULU Club and mentioned that venue's production made Hause feel "a bit basic by comparison."
Special Events: During our research phase, we noted Hause programs regular themed nights—occasional ladies' nights, holiday celebrations, guest international DJs every few weeks. During our actual visits, we didn't coincide with any major special programming beyond the Saturday guest DJ.
Live Performances: We witnessed no live music during our visits—entertainment is DJ-driven exclusively. Staff mentioned occasional live elements for specific events but couldn't provide concrete examples or schedules.
Overall Entertainment Assessment: Strong DJ programming carries the entertainment experience. Music quality and selection are genuinely good for a venue at this level. What holds it back from five stars is production value that doesn't quite match the premium positioning and lack of variety in entertainment formats.
Food and Drink Quality ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
We approached Hause Rooftop's food and drink quality with measured expectations—nightlife venues often sacrifice culinary standards for atmosphere and drinks. Pleasantly, Hause exceeds typical nightclub food quality while delivering solid cocktail execution.
Cocktail Quality: Across multiple drinks over four visits, execution was consistently good. The "Hause Sunset" we tried on Thursday balanced tequila's agave notes with passion fruit sweetness and jalapeño heat effectively—not groundbreaking mixology but well-composed and properly prepared. Garnishes were fresh, ice was properly sized, glassware was appropriate.
Friday's "Sky High" gin cocktail showed similar competence—proper dilution, balanced botanicals, attractive presentation with dehydrated citrus garnish. The bartender who made it clearly understood technique rather than just following recipes mechanically.
Where cocktails occasionally stumbled: Consistency between different bartenders. Our Saturday night gin and tonic was noticeably stronger (heavier pour) than the Friday version, suggesting either different bartenders have different standards or volume pressure leads to less precise measuring. Not a disaster, but noticeable.
Beer & Basic Drinks: Standard execution—appropriately cold, served in clean glassware, nothing remarkable but nothing wrong.
Wine: We sampled a glass of sauvignon blanc during our Thursday visit. Temperature was correct, pour was generous, quality matched the IDR 130,000 price point (mid-range, nothing special but drinkable).
Food Quality: This is where Hause impressed beyond expectations. The truffle fries (IDR 95,000) arrived hot, crispy, with generous real truffle oil and parmesan—not the disappointing "truffle essence" spray many venues use. Portion was substantial enough to share between two people as an appetizer.
The grilled salmon (IDR 185,000) was properly cooked to medium (as ordered), seasoned well, plated attractively with sides of vegetables and either rice or potatoes (we chose potatoes). For a nightclub kitchen, this was legitimately good restaurant-quality execution.
The burger (IDR 145,000) featured a proper beef patty (not frozen), fresh vegetables, melted cheese, toasted bun, crispy fries on the side. Was it the best burger in Jakarta? No. Was it better than we expected from a rooftop nightclub? Absolutely.
We interviewed a couple during our Thursday visit who ordered the spaghetti carbonara and steak. Their feedback: "The carbonara was creamy and well-cooked, though not authentic Italian style—more of a cream-based interpretation. The steak was surprisingly tender for the price—we'd definitely order food here again."
Ingredient Quality: Both food and drinks showed evidence of decent ingredient sourcing. Fresh garnishes for cocktails, real cheese (not processed) on dishes, vegetables that weren't wilted or refrigerator-tired. This seems minor but indicates the kitchen and bar take sourcing seriously.
Consistency Concerns: Our only significant criticism is consistency between visits and between different staff members making drinks. Thursday cocktails were notably better than Saturday cocktails from a technical execution standpoint. The Saturday bartenders were slammed with volume, which likely impacted precision, but consistency should be maintained regardless of crowds.
The Bottom Line: Food quality genuinely exceeds "nightclub food" standards and approaches "casual restaurant" quality. Cocktails are well-made with room for improvement on consistency. For a venue where most guests prioritize atmosphere and music over culinary experiences, Hause delivers surprisingly solid food and drink.
Sound Quality & Music Genre ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is genuinely one of Hause Rooftop's strongest technical achievements. The sound system performs exceptionally well, especially considering the acoustic challenges of the space.
Sound System Technical Quality: The speakers deliver clean, powerful sound with impressive bass response that you feel physically without becoming painful or distorting. High frequencies remain clear even at high volume—you can still hold conversations (shouting, admittedly) near the edges of the dance floor without complete vocal destruction. The system is well-distributed throughout the space, so volume doesn't suddenly spike or drop as you move between sections.
During our Saturday peak-hour visit, we specifically walked the perimeter of the venue testing sound coverage. The dance floor area naturally had maximum volume, but even 15-20 feet away at the bar, music remained clear and powerful without forcing bartenders to lip-read every order. The outdoor terrace section maintained good sound presence while allowing somewhat easier conversation—smart zoning for guests who want the music without being in the sonic epicenter.
Bass Quality: This deserves specific mention. Many venues achieve volume through overwhelming, muddy bass that sacrifices clarity for physical impact. Hause's bass hits hard—you absolutely feel it in your chest during drops—but maintains definition. You can distinguish individual bass notes and kick drum patterns rather than experiencing just a wall of low-frequency rumble.
Marcus, the expat we interviewed who visits regularly, specifically praised this: "I've been to clubs where my ears ring for two days afterward. Here it's loud, but it doesn't destroy you. The system is really well-tuned."
Music Genre Programming: Hause commits firmly to house and electronic music, particularly progressive house, tech house, and melodic variations. During our visits, programming followed predictable but effective arcs:
- Early evening (before 10:00 PM): Deep house, lounge, chill electronic—background music that enhances conversation rather than dominating it
- Building hours (10:00 PM-11:30 PM): Melodic house, groovy rhythms, recognizable vocal tracks mixed with underground selections
- Peak hours (11:30 PM-1:30 AM): Energetic progressive house, commercial EDM elements, crowd-pleasing drops and recognizable remixes
- Late night (after 1:30 AM): Deeper, darker house and techno for committed dancers who remain
This programming strategy works beautifully. The gradual energy build prevents jarring transitions while giving guests time to settle into the night's vibe. DJs demonstrate awareness of crowd energy levels and adjust accordingly rather than just hammering through predetermined sets.
Genre Limitations: If you're not an electronic music fan, Hause will disappoint. We heard no hip-hop, minimal R&B, no rock or alternative, no Latin music. This isn't criticism—the venue knows its lane and stays in it. But guests expecting genre variety within a night should manage expectations.
We spoke with a group of young professionals during our Friday visit. One woman mentioned: "I wish they'd throw in some hip-hop or dancehall occasionally. The house music is great, but four hours of it becomes repetitive." This is valid feedback, though whether Hause should shift from its focused identity is debatable.
DJ Mixing Quality: Technical mixing across the DJs we heard was solid to excellent. Transitions were generally smooth, beat-matching was tight, track selections flowed logically. The Saturday guest DJ in particular demonstrated advanced skills—harmonic mixing, creative layering, building tension before releases.
Volume Considerations: Sound level is appropriate for a nightclub—definitely loud, but not dangerously so for reasonable exposure periods. We'd still recommend earplugs for sound-sensitive guests or those spending 4+ hours in the dance floor area. The venue doesn't provide earplugs (we asked), which would be a nice small touch for hearing-conscious guests.
Ambiance & Crowd ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Hause Rooftop's ambiance shifts dramatically across the evening, creating distinct experiences depending on when you visit. The physical space, design elements, and evolving crowd atmosphere together create something special—though not without some compromises.
Physical Space Design: The venue's layout takes full advantage of its 46th-floor positioning. Floor-to-ceiling windows along the perimeter showcase Jakarta's sprawling cityscape, with lighting from thousands of buildings creating a glittering backdrop. Interior design leans contemporary-sleek: dark wood finishes, leather booth seating, metal and glass accents, moody lighting with gold/amber tones.
The multi-zone design works well. The restaurant section feels distinct from the club area through clever use of partition walls and lighting changes. The outdoor terrace—the absolute crown jewel—features open-air seating with direct exposure to Jakarta's skyline and breezes that provide relief from the internal crowd heat.
During our Thursday 7:00 PM arrival, the space felt sophisticated and intimate—couples at window tables, small professional groups sharing appetizers, ambient music creating elegant atmosphere. By our Saturday 10:30 PM arrival, the same physical space had transformed into a pulsating nightclub—bodies packed on the dance floor, VIP tables buzzing with champagne service, strobing lights replacing the earlier golden glow.
Lighting Design: Lighting shifts throughout the night support the venue's transformation. Early evening showcases warm ambient lighting that highlights the view and creates romantic atmosphere. As club hours progress, colored uplighting, moving spots, and occasional laser elements activate, building energy without completely overwhelming the space.
What we appreciated: Lighting designers show restraint. This isn't a strobe-light assault; you can still see faces, navigate without tripping, find your friends. During peak moments, lighting intensifies appropriately, then pulls back during transitions.
Crowd Demographics: The crowd varies significantly by night and time:
Thursday evenings: Mature professionals (late 20s to 40s), couples, small corporate groups. During our visit, the average age looked around 30-35, with a sophisticated, date-night vibe. Dress standards were smart casual, behavior calm and conversational.
Friday nights: Mixed crowd skewing younger—mid-20s to early 30s primary demographic. More groups of friends celebrating weekends, some international tourists, young professionals unwinding. Energy level notably higher than Thursday, dance floor active by 11:00 PM.
Saturday peak hours: The youngest and most energetic crowd we witnessed. Early-to-mid 20s dominated, though plenty of older guests with VIP tables. This is party mode—high energy, active dancing, louder conversations, champagne showers occasionally erupting from VIP sections.
The international-to-local ratio appeared roughly 30% international tourists and 70% Indonesians based on conversations and observations. English was widely spoken even among Indonesian guests, creating an internationally comfortable atmosphere.
Crowd Energy: Saturday night crowd energy was genuinely impressive. The dance floor packed by 11:30 PM with people actively dancing—not just standing with drinks but actually moving, engaged with the music, responsive to DJ track selections. We watched the crowd erupt during recognizable drops, hands shooting up, genuine collective energy.
Lauren and Mike, the couple from Australia we interviewed, specifically mentioned the crowd: "We've been to some Jakarta clubs where everyone just stands around looking at their phones. Here people are actually dancing and having fun—it feels like a proper night out."
Capacity and Crowding: This is where ambiance receives its biggest criticism. During our Saturday visit, the venue was uncomfortably crowded by 11:45 PM. The dance floor became difficult to navigate, bar areas required aggressive positioning to access, even walking to the restroom meant squeezing through packed bodies. This is too crowded—not just busy but legitimately uncomfortable.
Fire capacity limits were presumably being respected, but if so, those limits are too high for guest comfort. We spoke with venue staff during a quieter moment, and they acknowledged Saturday nights get "very full" but insisted it's what guests expect from premier nightlife venues. We disagree—there's a difference between energetically busy and uncomfortably overcrowded.
Temperature and Ventilation: Related to crowding, temperature management is a problem during peak hours. By midnight on Saturday, the interior space was hot and humid from body heat, with air conditioning struggling to compensate. The outdoor terrace provided relief, but it was often so crowded that accessing it required patience.
Several guests we interviewed mentioned this as their primary complaint. As one woman put it: "The venue is beautiful, the music is great, but it gets so hot and stuffy that I needed to step outside every 20 minutes to breathe."
Cleanliness During Operations: Staff circulate consistently collecting glasses and clearing tables, which helps maintain tidiness. However, during peak Saturday hours, the floor became sticky with spilled drinks—unavoidable to some degree in nightclubs but noticeable. Restrooms remained surprisingly clean thanks to active attendants.
Vibe and Atmosphere Intangibles: When not overcrowded, Hause Rooftop creates a genuinely appealing atmosphere—sophisticated enough to feel special, energetic enough to feel fun, visually impressive without being gimmicky. The Jakarta skyline backdrop provides something that indoor-only venues simply cannot match.
During our Friday 9:00 PM visit, before peak crowding hit, we stood on the outdoor terrace with cocktails watching the city lights and feeling the breeze while deep house played in the background. In that moment, Hause delivered exactly what a premium rooftop nightlife venue should provide—beauty, sophistication, and genuine enjoyment.
If Hause could maintain that experience throughout the night—keeping the crowds manageable, temperature comfortable, space navigable—this would easily be a five-star category. The crowding issue on peak nights is the sole factor preventing that rating.
Payment Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hause Rooftop handles payments with modern flexibility and efficiency that matches international standards. This is straightforward excellence that deserves recognition.
Accepted Payment Methods:
- Cash (IDR)
- All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX)
- Debit cards
- QRIS mobile payments
- GoPay, OVO, Dana, and other Indonesian e-wallets
Across our four visits, we tested different payment methods deliberately. Thursday dinner was settled via credit card—processed quickly, no issues. Friday drinks were paid in cash—change provided accurately. Saturday we split payment between two credit cards—accommodated without hassle.
Bill Settlement Process: When paying at tables (restaurant section or VIP club tables), servers bring handheld card readers directly to your table. This modern approach eliminates the old-school frustration of having your card taken away to some back office. You can watch the transaction process and keep your card in hand throughout.
At the bar during club hours, payment works differently—you open a tab with your card or pay cash per drink. Both systems functioned smoothly during our visits. The tab system is particularly appreciated during busy nights when returning to the bar for each round would be impractical.
Pricing Transparency: Bills are itemized clearly with prices matching menu listings. Service charge and tax are added (typical in Indonesia)—we believe it was 10% service charge plus 11% tax, though this should be confirmed on your bill. Staff explain the total clearly when presenting bills.
Splitting Bills: We specifically tested this on Saturday when treating the experience like a group night out. Staff accommodated splitting bills between multiple cards without complaint or confusion. This is notable because some venues make group payment needlessly difficult.
Receipt Provision: Printed receipts provided upon request immediately. Digital receipts available if you provide email. Good record-keeping for business travelers or those tracking expenses.
Currency: Prices are listed in IDR, payment in foreign currency not accepted (standard for Indonesia). The venue does not have currency exchange services, so come prepared with IDR or payment cards.
Tipping Culture: Service charge is included in bills, but small additional tips for exceptional service are appreciated. During our Thursday visit when our server Dinda was outstanding, we left an additional IDR 100,000 tip on a IDR 850,000 bill—well-received and genuinely appreciated based on her response.
The only minor hiccup: During our Saturday peak-hour visit, when we wanted to close our bar tab, it took about 10 minutes to flag down staff and process payment. This was entirely due to crowding and volume, not payment system issues. Staff were apologetic about the wait.
Why this earns five stars: Payment systems work flawlessly, multiple options accommodate all preferences, staff handle transactions professionally, and the modern approach (bringing card readers to tables, accepting all e-wallets) matches international standards. This is how nightlife venues should handle payments.
Exit Process ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Leaving Hause Rooftop is generally straightforward, though experiences varied depending on timing and crowd density during our visits.
Standard Exit Flow: The process is simply reversing your entry—proceed to the elevators, head down to ground level, exit through the hotel lobby. Hotel security often holds elevator doors and bids guests goodnight, which is a pleasant touch.
Thursday Evening Exit (around 10:45 PM): Completely smooth. Minimal other guests leaving simultaneously, no wait for elevators, quick ride down, out through the lobby in under five minutes total from deciding to leave.
Friday Exit (around 1:15 AM): Slight wait for elevators as multiple groups were leaving simultaneously, but nothing excessive—maybe four minutes waiting for an available elevator. Ground floor exit remained smooth.
Saturday Exit (around 2:30 AM): This is where the process bottlenecks. Large numbers of guests leaving as the venue approached closing time created elevator queues—we waited approximately 12 minutes for an elevator with capacity for our group. Not terrible, but not ideal when you're ready to leave and just want to go.
The elevator situation is somewhat unavoidable given the venue's vertical positioning. You can't exactly take stairs down from the 46th floor. However, we noticed the venue could improve flow management—staff were not actively directing traffic or communicating wait times to guests queuing for elevators.
Coat Check Retrieval: We didn't use coat check services (unnecessary in Jakarta's climate), but the station appeared organized during our observations. Other guests collecting items experienced no significant delays.
Security Farewell: Door staff and security who greeted guests on arrival were still present at exit, offering polite farewells and good wishes. This small touch maintains positive impression during departure.
Safety and Navigation: The post-midnight departures felt secure. Kinara Hotel maintains well-lit lobby areas, security presence at ground level, and the surrounding Menteng neighborhood is relatively safe. We never felt unsafe leaving the venue, even at 2:30 AM on Saturday.
Transportation Access: Getting Grab or Gojek rides from Hause's location is straightforward. We typically opened the apps while still inside the venue, had a car assigned within 2-3 minutes, and drivers found the location without issues. Pickup point is clearly in front of the hotel entrance. On Saturday night's peak departure time, wait for rides extended to 8-10 minutes as many people were booking simultaneously, but this is typical for major nightlife venues at closing time.
If you have a car with valet, we observed the retrieval process from the hotel's valet area—seemed efficient with cars arriving within 5-7 minutes of request.
Staff Farewell: This is minor but worth noting—staff members saying goodbye and thanking guests for visiting create positive final impressions. During our Thursday exit, a staff member specifically asked how our evening was and whether we'd return—small gesture that showed genuine hospitality.
Why not five stars: The elevator bottleneck during peak exit times is the only significant issue. During Saturday's departure, 12 minutes waiting for elevators felt excessive, and better traffic management by staff could have improved the experience. Otherwise, the exit process is smooth and well-managed.
Social Media ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Hause Rooftop maintains active and professional social media presence, particularly on Instagram where Jakarta's nightlife crowd primarily congregates for venue research and promotion.
Instagram Performance (@hauserooftop):
- Follower Count: 47,000+ followers as of our review period
- Content Frequency: Daily posts and stories, with multiple stories throughout weekends
- Content Quality: Professional photography showcasing the venue, particularly sunset shots from the outdoor terrace, crowd energy photos from peak nights, and food/cocktail presentations
- Engagement: Moderate relative to follower count—posts typically receive 200-500 likes and 10-30 comments
Content Strategy Strengths:
The feed is visually cohesive with consistent color grading (warm tones, golden hour lighting emphasized) that reinforces the sophisticated rooftop brand. Photography is genuinely professional quality—not just iPhone snapshots but properly composed, edited images that make the venue look as good as it actually appears in person.
Event promotion is handled well. Guest DJ announcements appear 1-2 weeks in advance with multiple reminder posts as dates approach. Special themed nights get dedicated content series building anticipation.
Stories are active and engaging—behind-the-scenes content, real-time updates during busy nights, staff features, and resharing of tagged guest content. During our research phase before visits, stories gave accurate representation of current crowd levels and atmosphere.
What Works Well:
- Sunset terrace photography is stunning and highly shareable
- Crowd energy photos capture the fun atmosphere without looking chaotic
- Food and cocktail content is appetizing and well-presented
- Staff occasionally featured, adding human connection
- Good balance between promotional content and value-providing posts
Where They Could Improve:
Response Times: We tested DM response times during our research phase—varied from 45 minutes to over 24 hours. For a nightlife venue where people often make spontaneous plans, faster response times would capture more bookings.
Engagement Strategy: Despite 47,000 followers, engagement rates suggest many are passive followers. More interactive content (polls, questions, contests) could boost active engagement. We rarely saw calls-to-action beyond "tag someone you'd bring here."
User-Generated Content: The venue reshares some tagged guest photos, but this could be expanded. Creating unique hashtags, running photo contests, or featuring "guest of the week" would encourage more organic content creation.
Video Content: Reels and video posts are present but could be leveraged more. Short video clips of DJ performances, crowd reactions to drops, or 360-degree views of the space would provide better sense of the experience than static photos.
Facebook Presence: Active but clearly secondary to Instagram—same content crossposted, lower engagement. For Jakarta's demographic, this makes sense as Instagram dominates nightlife social media.
Response to Reviews/Comments: Staff generally respond to comments on Instagram posts, but responses are often generic ("Thank you! See you soon!") rather than personalized engagement. DM responses we received were much more personalized and helpful than public comment responses.
TikTok: No dedicated presence that we could find. Given TikTok's growing influence in Southeast Asia and particularly among Hause's younger weekend demographic, this represents a missed opportunity for reach expansion.
Google Maps/Reviews: Strong presence with hundreds of reviews (mostly positive) and plenty of user-uploaded photos. The venue doesn't appear to respond systematically to Google reviews—both positive and negative reviews went unacknowledged. This is a missed opportunity for reputation management and guest relationship building.
Why Four Stars: The social media presence is solid—professional content, consistent posting, adequate information for planning visits. It earns four stars rather than five because engagement strategy could be more sophisticated, response times are inconsistent, and some platforms (TikTok notably) are underutilized. For a modern nightlife venue, social media is a critical marketing channel, and Hause performs well without truly excelling.
Transportation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Getting to and from Hause Rooftop via various transportation methods proved consistently convenient across all our visits. This is one operational aspect where the venue's location and setup work flawlessly.
Ride-Sharing Services (Grab/Gojek):
This is how the vast majority of guests arrive and depart—and for good reason. The venue's location is well-known to drivers, pickup/drop-off points are clearly designated (right at the hotel entrance), and the surrounding streets accommodate vehicle access easily.
During our four visits, we tested ride-share services from different Jakarta locations:
- From South Jakarta (Senopati area): 25-40 minutes depending on traffic, IDR 35,000-55,000
- From Sudirman CBD: 15-25 minutes, IDR 30,000-45,000
- From Kemang: 30-45 minutes, IDR 40,000-60,000
Booking rides was never problematic. Opening the Grab app consistently showed 3-5 drivers nearby within 2-3 minutes of requesting. Even during our Saturday 2:30 AM departure when dozens of guests were simultaneously booking rides, our wait time was only about 8 minutes.
The hotel entrance has clear signage and lighting, making it easy for drivers to locate the pickup point. We never experienced the frustration of drivers unable to find us or calling confused about where we were—they all knew Kinara Hotel location perfectly.
Private Car/Driver:
If you have a private driver or arrange car service, access is straightforward. The hotel has drop-off and pickup areas right at the entrance. For guests with regular drivers, this is probably the most comfortable option.
Valet Parking:
The hotel offers valet parking services for guests arriving in their own vehicles. We observed the valet operation during our visits—seemed efficient with reasonable wait times for vehicle retrieval. Cost is typical for Jakarta upscale venues (we believe IDR 30,000-40,000 range, though we didn't personally use this service).
For guests planning to drink, we'd obviously recommend against driving yourself. But for those having dinner during early hours without drinking, driving and using valet is viable.
Taxi Services:
Traditional taxis (Blue Bird, etc.) work fine, though in modern Jakarta, most guests prefer app-based ride-shares. The pickup process is identical to Grab/Gojek—right at the hotel entrance with no complications.
Walking Access:
Hause isn't really positioned for walking access unless you're staying at a nearby hotel in Menteng. The surrounding area lacks pedestrian nightlife infrastructure—this isn't a walkable entertainment district but rather a destination venue you specifically travel to.
That said, the Menteng neighborhood itself is pleasant and relatively safe for evening walks. Several guests we interviewed mentioned walking from nearby hotels (10-15 minute walks) rather than bothering with very short car rides.
Public Transportation:
TransJakarta bus and MRT access require walks of 15-20 minutes or more—not particularly convenient, especially when dressed for nightlife. We didn't meet anyone during our visits who had arrived via public transportation.
Motorcycle Taxis (Ojek):
Gojek's bike service works fine for solo travelers comfortable with motorcycle transport. Several guests mentioned arriving via GoRide, citing speed advantages through Jakarta traffic. Not ideal when dressed nicely, but certainly functional.
Accessibility Considerations:
The venue is accessible for guests with mobility considerations via elevator from ground level directly to the 46th floor. No stairs required for general access. However, within the venue itself, some sections involve steps between levels that could present challenges.
Why Five Stars:
Transportation to and from Hause Rooftop works flawlessly via the most common method (ride-sharing apps), pickup/drop-off logistics are smooth, the location is well-known to drivers, and alternative methods (valet, taxis) also function well. We experienced zero transportation frustration across four visits, which is noteworthy in a city where transport can be challenging. This is as good as transportation access gets for Jakarta nightlife venues.
Other/General Comments
What Worked Brilliantly:
- The view: Cannot be overstated—Jakarta's skyline from 46 floors up is spectacular, especially during sunset transition
- Sound system quality: Genuinely impressive technical performance
- Multi-phase atmosphere: Successfully transitioning from dinner venue to nightclub within the same space
- Security professionalism: Balanced firmness with courtesy consistently
- Payment flexibility: Modern, efficient, accommodating
- Transportation accessibility: Flawless ride-share access
What Needs Improvement:
- Peak-hour overcrowding: Saturday nights become uncomfortably packed—capacity management needs attention
- Ventilation and temperature: Interior spaces get hot and stuffy during peak hours
- Bar staffing during rushes: Need additional bartenders for Friday/Saturday peak periods
- Service consistency: Gap between early-evening excellence and peak-hour strain
- VIP inclusions: Minimal perks for high-spending table guests
- Social media responsiveness: Inconsistent DM response times
Our Pro Tips from 4 Visits:
Arrive during sunset (6:00-7:00 PM) on any evening for the best views and atmosphere. The transition from daylight to city lights is magical, and you'll get photos without crowds blocking every angle.
Thursday and early Friday (before 10:30 PM) offer the best overall experience. You get the venue's quality without the overwhelming Saturday crowds and can actually have conversations.
Book VIP tables through GuestListNow for exclusive perks rather than walking in and hoping for space during peak hours. For groups of 4+ planning serious nights out, the guaranteed seating justifies the minimum spend.
The outdoor terrace is the venue's crown jewel—prioritize getting time there, especially before it hits capacity around 11:30 PM on busy nights.
Dress well, especially on weekends. Door staff enforce standards consistently. Men should wear collared shirts and proper shoes; women should opt for stylish going-out attire. We saw multiple groups turned away for casual dress.
Start with dinner in the restaurant section if you're planning a full night. The food quality is surprisingly good, and you'll already be inside when club hours begin rather than queuing outside.
Stay hydrated beyond just drinking cocktails. The venue gets hot during peak hours, and Jakarta's altitude and humidity already challenge those not acclimated. Request water regularly.
If the interior becomes too crowded or hot, rotate to the outdoor terrace for breaks. Don't try to push through discomfort for hours—take breathers.
For solo travelers or small groups not booking tables, position yourself near the bar area early (around 10:00 PM on busy nights) to stake out standing space before it becomes impossible to navigate.
Budget realistically: IDR 500,000-700,000 per person minimum for a proper night including cover (if applicable), 4-5 drinks, and perhaps some food. VIP table groups should budget IDR 700,000-1,000,000+ per person depending on consumption.
Things to Know Before Visiting:
- The venue's transformation from restaurant to club means atmosphere changes dramatically across the evening—plan your arrival timing based on which experience you want
- ID is checked strictly—bring valid identification
- The outdoor terrace has limited capacity and fills up fast—get there early if this is important to you
- Smoking is permitted in designated areas only
- ATM available in the hotel lobby if you need cash
- Coat check exists but is rarely necessary in Jakarta's climate
- Restroom facilities can get crowded during peak hours—plan timing strategically
- No re-entry once you leave
- The venue occasionally closes for private events—check social media before making plans
Hidden Gems We Discovered:
During our Thursday visit, we found that arriving around 9:30 PM hits a sweet spot—restaurant diners are finishing up, club crowd hasn't fully arrived yet, and you can explore the entire venue without crowds, stake out preferred spots, and transition naturally into the night's energy build.
The corner areas of the outdoor terrace offer slightly better views with less crowding than the central sections—many guests cluster in the middle, leaving corners more accessible.
If you're genuinely interested in music quality rather than just being seen, positioning yourself about 20 feet back from the DJ booth provides optimal sound balance—all the bass and energy without the ear-splitting volume directly in front of the speakers.
Our Overall Opinion of Hause Rooftop
After evaluating Hause Rooftop across 17 categories during four visits, we awarded it an overall score of 4.1 out of 5 stars (82%), placing it firmly in the "Excellent—Highly Recommended" tier of Jakarta's nightlife landscape.
This rating reflects a venue that does many things very well—spectacular location and views, solid music programming, professional security and operations, surprisingly good food, and genuine atmosphere that justifies its premium positioning. The 46th-floor perch delivers something unique in Jakarta's nightlife scene: a legitimate rooftop experience that successfully balances sophisticated dining and energetic clubbing within one space.
What prevents Hause from reaching the exceptional 4.5+ star tier is primarily operational strain during peak weekend hours. The Saturday-night overcrowding, temperature management struggles, and bar service bottlenecks create friction that undermines the otherwise excellent experience. For a venue charging premium prices and positioning itself as a premier destination, these issues shouldn't exist. With better capacity management (either limiting entries or expanding bar staff), Hause could easily achieve higher scores.
The venue's strongest performances came in categories like Transportation (5/5), Payment Options (5/5), and Sound Quality & Music Genre (5/5)—operational fundamentals executed flawlessly. The weakest performance was Inclusions (3/5), where the transactional VIP experience feels lacking compared to other premium venues. Service oscillated between excellent (4/5) and strained depending entirely on timing, averaging out to strong but inconsistent performance.
Would we return? Absolutely—but strategically. We'd enthusiastically return for Thursday or early Friday visits when the venue operates at optimal capacity. We'd be more hesitant about Saturday peak hours unless we had VIP table reservations guaranteeing space away from the overcrowded masses. For first-time visitors, we'd recommend Thursday or arriving early on Friday to experience Hause at its best before crowds complicate the experience.
The value proposition depends heavily on timing and approach. Couples seeking romantic dinner with views will find excellent value in the restaurant section during early hours. Groups booking VIP tables will find fair (if not exceptional) value compared to other Jakarta premium venues. Solo travelers or small groups trying to enjoy Saturday peak hours through the general admission route will struggle with crowds and may question the value.
Who is Hause Rooftop perfect for?
- Electronic music fans who appreciate quality house and progressive DJ sets
- Couples seeking sophisticated date-night venues with dinner and cocktails in elevated settings
- Young professionals (mid-to-late 20s, early 30s) wanting upscale nightlife without pretentiousness
- International tourists looking to experience Jakarta nightlife with skyline views and English-friendly environment
- Groups celebrating occasions with VIP table budgets who value guaranteed seating and bottle service
- Those who prioritize atmosphere and views over just pure musical or clubbing experience
Who might want to skip Hause Rooftop?
- Budget-conscious clubbers—pricing is definitely premium tier
- Those who dislike crowds—Saturday nights get uncomfortably packed
- Hip-hop or R&B fans—music is almost exclusively house and electronic
- Guests highly sensitive to heat—ventilation struggles during peak hours
- Those seeking intimate, low-key experiences—this is a large, energetic venue
- Anyone not comfortable with heights—46 floors up may not suit everyone
Hause Rooftop represents what modern Jakarta nightlife can achieve: international-standard production values, sophisticated atmosphere, and genuine entertainment delivered in a space that leverages the city's vertical growth. It's not perfect—operational challenges during peak hours and minor service inconsistencies hold it back from true excellence. But it's very good, often excellent, and absolutely worth experiencing for the right guests at the right times.
Our team will definitely return for future visits, particularly during those magic Thursday evenings when Hause operates at its very best—delivering sophisticated rooftop ambiance, quality music, and genuine hospitality without the compromises that come with overwhelming weekend crowds.
FAQs About Hause Rooftop
What's the dress code at Hause Rooftop?
Smart casual to smart attire is required. Men should wear collared shirts and proper shoes (no athletic shoes, flip-flops, or sandals). Women should dress in stylish going-out attire. We witnessed multiple groups turned away during our Saturday visit for wearing casual sneakers and shorts. Standards are enforced more strictly on Friday and Saturday nights compared to earlier weekdays. When in doubt, dress up rather than down—you won't be overdressed.
How much should I budget for a night at Hause Rooftop?
For individuals: Budget IDR 500,000-700,000 per person for a full night including potential cover charge, 4-5 cocktails, and perhaps some food. Cocktails run IDR 110,000-180,000 each. For VIP tables: Groups should budget IDR 700,000-1,000,000+ per person depending on the group size and consumption levels, with table minimums ranging from IDR 3,000,000-10,000,000+ depending on location and night. Saturday nights are more expensive than Thursday-Friday.
Is there a cover charge to enter?
Cover charges vary by night and timing. Thursday evenings and early Friday (before 10:00 PM typically): no cover charge. Friday late night and Saturday peak hours: approximately IDR 150,000 per person for walk-in guests without table reservations. VIP table bookings bypass cover charges entirely. We experienced this structure across our visits, though policies may change for special events or holidays.
What time should I arrive?
Depends entirely on what experience you want. For sunset views and dinner: arrive 6:00-7:00 PM. For a transitional experience catching both dinner atmosphere and club energy: arrive 8:30-9:30 PM. For full club atmosphere: arrive 10:30-11:30 PM. For guaranteed access to the outdoor terrace: arrive before 10:00 PM as it reaches capacity quickly on busy nights. We'd generally recommend arriving earlier rather than later to avoid queues and secure your preferred spot.
What music genre can I expect?
Hause focuses almost exclusively on house and electronic music—deep house, progressive house, tech house, and melodic variations. During peak hours, programming includes commercial EDM elements and recognizable remixes. If you're looking for hip-hop, R&B, or genre variety, this isn't your venue. The commitment to electronic music is consistent across all nights we visited.
Can I book a table, and should I?
Yes, you can book tables through the venue directly via WhatsApp (+62 811-9898-088) or Instagram DM. For Friday and Saturday nights, we strongly recommend booking if you're bringing a group of 4+ people. Walk-in table access during peak hours is essentially impossible. Minimum spends for VIP tables range from IDR 3,000,000-10,000,000+ depending on table location and night. However, we recommend booking through GuestListNow for the best experience and exclusive perks rather than booking directly with the venue.
Is Hause Rooftop good for tourists?
Absolutely. The venue is very tourist-friendly—staff speak English well, the location is accessible via ride-sharing apps, and the atmosphere welcomes international guests. Many guests we interviewed during our visits were international tourists, and the venue maintains an internationally comfortable vibe. The Jakarta skyline views alone make it worthwhile for tourists wanting to experience the city from above.
How crowded does it get?
Thursday nights and early Friday are comfortably busy—energetic without being overcrowded. Saturday peak hours (11:00 PM-1:30 AM) become uncomfortably crowded in our assessment. During our Saturday visit, navigating the dance floor and bar areas required patience and physical persistence. If you're sensitive to crowds, avoid Saturday nights or book a VIP table with guaranteed space.
Is the food worth ordering?
Surprisingly, yes. We tested multiple dishes across visits and found food quality exceeded typical nightclub standards, approaching casual restaurant quality. Prices are reasonable given the location—mains mostly IDR 125,000-195,000. The truffle fries, grilled salmon, and burger all impressed. If you're planning to arrive during dinner hours, eating at Hause is a viable option rather than dining elsewhere first.
How do I get there, and is parking available?
Most guests use Grab or Gojek ride-sharing services—the location (Kinara Hotel, Jalan Prapatan, Menteng) is well-known to drivers. From major Jakarta areas, rides cost IDR 30,000-60,000 and take 15-40 minutes depending on traffic and origin. Valet parking is available for those driving their own vehicles. TransJakarta and MRT require 15-20+ minute walks and aren't particularly convenient for nightlife access.
What's the age demographic?
Varies significantly by night. Thursday evenings skew older—late 20s to 40s, professional crowd, couples. Friday nights mixed—mid-20s to early 30s primarily. Saturday peak hours skew youngest—early-to-mid 20s dominate, though older guests with VIP tables are present. Overall, the venue caters primarily to 25-35 age range with younger and older guests present in smaller numbers.
Are there any special promotions or ladies' nights?
During our visits, we didn't experience specific ladies' night promotions or regular drink specials. The venue runs occasional themed nights and special events promoted through social media. Programming seems to focus more on guest DJ events and holiday parties rather than weekly promotional nights. Check their Instagram (@hauserooftop) for current event information as promotions may be introduced.
Final Thoughts on Hause Rooftop
Hause Rooftop occupies an interesting position in Jakarta's competitive nightlife ecosystem—ambitious enough to rival the city's best venues, consistent enough to maintain popularity, yet human enough to show operational imperfections during peak stress. After four visits, dozens of conversations with guests and staff, and comprehensive evaluation across 17 categories, we're left with genuine appreciation for what Hause achieves while acknowledging where it falls short of its own aspirations.
The venue's greatest achievement is successfully managing dual identities that typically conflict: sophisticated rooftop restaurant and energetic nightclub. Most venues attempting this combination fail at one or both—the restaurant feels like an afterthought, or the club never achieves proper energy. Hause actually succeeds at both, depending on when you visit. The Thursday evening dinner experience genuinely rivals dedicated restaurants, while Saturday midnight club atmosphere matches Jakarta's premier dance venues.
That 46th-floor location remains the venue's unassailable advantage. You can improve service, adjust capacity, refine programming—but you can't replicate that skyline view from competitors operating at ground level. Every time we stepped onto the outdoor terrace and saw Jakarta stretching endlessly in all directions, lights glittering across the humid darkness, we understood why guests tolerate imperfections to experience this space.
What lingers from our visits isn't just memories of specific moments—though we have those, particularly that Thursday sunset hour when the restaurant glowed golden and the city transformed from day to night before our eyes. What lingers is recognition that Hause represents a specific type of Jakarta nightlife experience: upscale without being exclusionary, energetic without being chaotic, modern without being sterile. This balance is harder to achieve than it appears.
For first-time visitors, particularly international tourists or Jakarta newcomers, we genuinely recommend experiencing Hause Rooftop—but recommend doing so strategically. Arrive Thursday evening or early Friday, skip the overwhelming Saturday peak hours unless you've booked VIP tables, and don't let that incredible view distract you from also enjoying the music, food, and atmosphere. Hause is more than just an Instagram backdrop; it's a legitimate nightlife venue that happens to have spectacular views rather than a view deck that happens to play music.
As travel journalists who've experienced rooftop venues across Asia—from Bangkok's sky bars to Singapore's Marina Bay establishments to Hong Kong's Ozone—Hause Rooftop holds its own. It's not Ibiza, it's not Dubai, but it's not trying to be. It's Jakarta—energetic, imperfect, ambitious, rapidly modernizing Jakarta—expressed through 46 floors of elevation, house music, and city lights stretching to the horizon.
Will we return? Without question. But we'll return on our terms—Thursday evenings when the venue operates optimally, or Friday before the peak crowds arrive. We'll book through GuestListNow to secure exclusive perks when bringing groups. We'll arrive in time for sunset, order the truffle fries, sip cocktails while watching Jakarta transform from day to night, and dance when the DJ builds energy without fighting through uncomfortable crowds.
Hause Rooftop earned its 4.1/5 star rating honestly—through consistent strengths that outweigh identifiable weaknesses, through genuine hospitality more often than operational failures, through creating an experience worth the premium pricing even when perfection proves elusive. In Jakarta's ever-evolving nightlife scene, that's an achievement worth recognizing, celebrating, and recommending.
